Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) Designation
A challenging, practical and ongoing personal lines risk management and insurance program. The Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) Program is a professional education and designation program offered by the Council for Insuring Private Clients (CIPC) and The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. The Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) Program focuses specifically on the needs of affluent and high net worth clients. It provides the first in-depth and highly-focused knowledge base for serving this important market segment.
CPRM courses are an exceptional opportunity to exchange ideas and practices specific to this client community with experts and colleagues. The program provides a unique combination of risk management, technical information, and account development. CPRM is a current and comprehensive curriculum taught by acknowledged and practicing expert faculty. The development and support of the program includes leading carriers such as AIG, ACE and top agencies and brokers writing high net worth and affluent clients.
Five Courses, One Comprehensive Program
While any CPRM course may be taken independently to meet a specific need, individuals who successfully complete the entire program can earn the designation as Certified Personal Risk Manager. The five courses are taught by seasoned professionals with years of experience in insurance risk management.
The five CPRM courses include:
- Personal Client Risk Management
- Understanding Coverage Differences: The Affluent and High Net Worth Client
- Evaluating and Protecting the Lifestyle
- Practical Application of Personal Risk Management
- Winning the Business: The Art of Presentation – Present or Perish
Each classroom course is 16-hours of instruction, followed by an optional two-hour essay exam. Earn the CPRM designation by completing all five courses and passing all five examinations within a five-year time window. Any eligible individual may attend CPRM courses without taking the examinations or working toward the designation. A CPRM course will also count as an annual update for any of the designations of The National Alliance (CIC, CRM, CISR, and CSRM).
Helpful Considerations
Individuals should have – at a minimum – a full understanding of standard personal lines insurance exposures and coverages. CISR and CIC Personal Lines courses/institutes are recommended to gain or reinforce this knowledge.
